BUILD A NEW STATE OF THE ART SCHOOL IN TOWER OR SOUDAN

Combine Cook, Babbitt, & possibly Ely ( out of dist ) Into a new Tower-Soudan PreK - 12 School w/ modern transport

( note : this option has not yet been run through district analysis )

Because Tower-Soudan has one of the only areas with projected growth in the districts own student projection report. The report does not take into consideration the following facts:

1. The Lake Vermilion State Park ( if created ) would bring an estimated 400,000 additional tourists into the Tower-Soudan area each year demanding services and creating jobs.

2. The construction of the 8 - 12 million dollar ( already funded ) Historic Harbor Renaissance Project will create a new harbor in downtown Tower and give direct access for boats on Lake Vermilion come in to shop, eat, or use other services making Tower the main hub of Lake Vermilion ( 5th largest lake in Minnesota ) and the center of future growth for the area.

3. The opening of Polymet Mining could bring approximately 300-600 fulltime jobs to the area.

4. If the Lake Vermilion State Parks does not open it will be developed into approx. 100-200 residental lots that would likely attend the new Tower-Soudan School.

5. Fortune Bay Casino is currently planning to make available 100-200 residental lots that would have children attending the new Tower-Soudan school.

6. Logistics: Tower is equally located in the center of ELY, COOK, and BABBITT. They are all approximately the same distance to Tower. It makes sense to place a new school in the center of an area; Especially, a growing one.

CONCLUSION:

Build a new large preK-12 ( possibly multiple buildings )state of the art school(s) in TOWER or SOUDAN that gives a large selection of educational opportunities/electives integrating a new hub of technology with new modern buses that assure safety, comfort and Technology themselves.
